ORIENTAL INSTITUTE LEGACY CAMPAIGN

WHAT IS THE ORIENTAL INSTITUTE
WHY IS CLIMATE CONTROL IMPORTANT ?
THE BUILDING PLANS
AFTER THE RENOVATION AND ADDITION:
Museum Galleries and Storage
Museum Archive
Conservation Laboratory
Archaeology Research Center
Multi-Purpose Room
Research Archive (Library) Stacks

The Oriental Institute is heading into the 21st century with a major renovation and expansion project. The project is designed to introduce climate control to all areas of the building where the Museum's objects are stored, exhibited, or studied, and to provide much needed space for archaeological research, library stacks, and conservation of its ancient Near Eastern artifacts.

BUILDING RENOVATION PROGRESS REPORTS

A 17,000 square foot addition has been built to house an expanded Conservation Laboratory, Museum Archive storage, object storage, and library stacks for the Research Archive.

Extensive renovation of the basement and first floor of the present building is providing space for an Archaeology Research Center, a Multi-Purpose Room to accommodate functions as disparate as scholarly lectures and children's craft workshops, and newly designed and installed exhibits in the Museum's galleries.
