Museum Galleries and Storage
The Oriental Institute Museum collection contains artifacts from Egypt, Iran, Mesopotamia, Anatolia, Palestine, and Syria. When the galleries are reinstalled, they will also include a permanent exhibit on the cultures of ancient Nubia, as well as many fragile and important objects including ancient mummies, documents written on animal skin and papyrus, which will be able to be displayed safely for the first time. One of the highlights of the museum will be the sculpture and reliefs from the palace of the Assyrian king Sargon II at Khorsabad.
