PRELIMINARY BIBLIOGRAPHY OF PUBLICATIONS DOCUMENTING THE CYLINDER AND STAMP SEALS AND SEAL IMPRESSIONS IN THE COLLECTIONS OF THE IRAQ MUSEUM BAGHDAD
Version 1: October 9, 2003 - 26 titles
The titles in this list include primarily those in which seals or seal impressions from the collections of the Iraq Museum are described, illustrated, and indexed. Most of the titles in this list are published in the journal Sumer - the archaeological journal of the State Organization of Antiquties and Heritage (and its predecessor organizations) of the Iraqi government [A full index of all articles in Sumer is in preparation here and nearly complete]. The remaining titles are also included in the larger Preliminary Bibliography Of Books Documenting The Contents Of The Iraq Museum, The National Library And Archives, And The MS Collection Of The Ministry Of Religious Endowments... Seals also appear in other kinds of publications - notably in Iraq Museum Exhibition Catalogues and Guides.
This bibliography is preliminary and internally inconsistent in a number of respects. We will be grateful for suggestions and advice.
An index by museum number of the objects published in the titles in this list is provided in a separate document. That index includes 1302 published numbers. This reflects a slightly smaller number of objects because some are published in more than one place.
