Artifacts of Syrian and Anatolian origin fit well within the ellipses of several Taurus mountain ore fields. Sourcing is based upon the lead isotope fingerprints of the ores, the ratio of the various naturally occurring isotopes of the metal lead. Lead frequently accompanies other metals in ore bearing deposits.
