Egyptian Gallery: Daily Life
We know much about daily life in ancient Egypt from the many material remains. This section of the museum displays examples of actual tools as well as votive tools; smaller scale replicas that were buried near a temple at the time of its foundation. Actual examples of food are also exhibited; including loaves of bread, grain, a plate of eggs and even a mummified waterfowl which was left in a tomb to sustain the mummy in the afterlife. Other objects of daily life include examples of textiles, baskets, and a clay box-like stove.
