Mesopotamia Gallery: The Land and its History
Just to the right of the entrance to the gallery, nine cases provide an overview of nearly 10,000 years of the history and cultural development of ancient Mesopotamia. The display begins on the left with the early development of prehistoric cultures - the domestication of plants and animals and the first settled communities. Moving toward the right, subsequent cases document the culture of the world's first cities and subsequent empires, ending with the fall of Babylon in 539 B.C.
