Mesopotamian Gallery: Jewelry And Food
The ancient Mesopotamians, both men and women, adorned themselves with elaborate jewelry and colorful textiles. Exhibited in this area of the gallery are cosmetic jars and utensils, many of which were presented as offerings to goddesses in their temples, as well as necklaces, bracelets, anklets, pendants, and pins made of materials ranging from silver to carnelian, lapis lazuli, and shell. Drawings illustrate how these items were worn. On the opposite side of the gallery are exhibits showing how Mesopotamian life was centered around agriculture, animal husbandry, and hunting.
