THE MUMMY AND COFFIN OF MERESAMUN

This three-dimensional computer reconstruction of the skull of Meresamun is made up of many stacked CT scans. Because the computer has the ability to image areas of specific density, structures such as the coffin, the wrappings and even the flesh are eliminated from this view. Note the hard materials placed in the eye sockets and the healed fracture in her jaw. Note also that her teeth are in excellent condition. The upper section of Meresamun's skull has been omitted from this reconstruction.
