Tom Van Eynde: Thebes Photographic Project
The Mortuary Temple of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu. First Pylon, western
face of the southern tower. The view is from the area of the royal palace
adjoining the south wall of the Temple Proper. Sculpted on the pylon is a
scene of Ramesses III (ca. 1182 B.C.) in his chariot hunting wild bulls in
the marshes. To the right are the ruined doorjambs of the columned hall and
throne room of the palace. To the left are the staircase and platform
leading to the window of appearances inside the first court of the temple.
