Tom Van Eynde: Thebes Photographic Project



Mortuary Temple of Ramesses II (ca. 1279 B.C) at Gurna (the Ramesseum). Here is depicted the east side of the Second Pylon under reconstruction and consolidation several years ago. Fallen on its back is the granite seated colossus of Ramesses II ("Ozymandias" of Shelley's sonnet), while osiriform statues of that king are covered in scaffolding. (Caption - Peter Piccione)


All the photographs were made with a Fujica G617 Panorama Camera. The film is TriX. The prints are made on llford Mulitgrade Fiber base paper. The original prints are 7"x22" on 10"x24" paper.
