Tom Van Eynde: Thebes Photographic Project



Western Thebes, high ridge overlooking the Valley of the Kings. Here the workmen of the royal tombs built an encampment of stone houses in which they lived during the nine-day work week. Every tenth day, they returned to their homes and family at Deir el-Medina for the weekend. (Caption - Peter Piccione)


All the photographs were made with a Fujica G617 Panorama Camera. The film is TriX. The prints are made on llford Mulitgrade Fiber base paper, toned with Kodak Rapid Selenium toner. The original prints are 7"x22" on 10"x24" paper.
