The Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society will host a conference on "New Insights into Individual Magical Handbooks" on Friday–Saturday, May 18–19, 2018. This conference will center mainly on papers given by an international team of papyrologists who have collaborated on the Transmission of Magical Knowledge project, which is aimed at re-editing and re-translating the magical handbooks from Late-Antique Egypt. The papers will discuss new insights and discoveries regarding these handbooks, as well as important differences between them, with regard to format, content, and intended use.
