Community Scholars Program: We Bring the Oriental Institute to You via Zoom
Can’t make it to the Oriental Institute to see our Museum exhibitions or attend gallery talks by our world-famous scholars? Or is your group planning a visit to the Museum in the future and wants first-hand knowledge about archaeological fieldwork and a preview of our collections?
A faculty member, research associate, or content expert from the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago can deliver an educational talk or presentation via Zoom to your group. The Community Scholars Program provides presentations on themes ranging from exhibition highlights to our archaeological research and discoveries.
Fill out the Request Form to make a request. Only requests for groups of 10 or more people within the Chicago metropolitan area will be considered for in person talks but we are happy to do talks via Zoom. Please allow five business days to receive a response from us. Once your request has been approved, we will ask that you pay a $25 administrative fee.
In order to provide you with high quality talks, we ask that you pay the speakers an honorarium, which compensates them for their time. These payments should be made directly to the speaker on the night of the talk or digitally if the request is over Zoom. In addition, we have an administrative fee to arrange your request
