Oriental Institute Intern Application

Internships at the Oriental Institute are engaging educational experiences designed for university undergraduate and graduate level students. All internships are unpaid. Interns have an opportunity to gain practical skills as well as work on projects that are meaningful and will provide them with resume-building experience. Working alongside staff members in a tutorial arrangement, interns gain skills and training in museum best practices as well as current museum education theory and hands-on practice.

The Oriental Institute Museum may have opportunities for volunteers and interns for help with museum registration, archives, and occasionally in curatorial support. Usually the demand for such positions is high, and spaces are limited.  For those interested in these areas, please submit to oi-museum@uchicago.edu:

  • a brief cover letter
  • a resume

Internships are available in the following areas:

  • Public Education and Outreach

How to Apply

Applicants for Public Education and Outreach please submit in the form below:

  • application information
  • two letters of recommendation from current or former college professors, academic advisors or recent/current employers
  • a resume or curriculum vitae
