Egyptian Gallery: Religion

Bronze statues, such as those in the middle of this exhibit, were commonly purchased by pious individuals and then donated to temples. Across the gallery are exhibits dealing with the ancient artists, their tools and the techniques that they employed. On the right of that alcove are examples of large-scale statues including the god Amun (white limestone) and the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet with a sun disk on her head.
