Book of the Dead Exhibit Featured in UChicago Magazine
The Oriental Institute's Special Exhibit "Book of the Dead: Becoming God in Ancient Egypt," which closes on March 31, 2018, was featured by UChicago Magazine in an article written by Lucas McGranahan called "A Matter of Life and Death: Egyptian Book of the Dead Comes Alive at the Oriental Institute." Oriental Institute Collections Research Grant 2018–2019
Museum Collections Research Grants will be available to researchers for the 2018–2019 academic year through the generosity of Jim Sopranos. The Oriental Institute welcomes applications from researchers at all levels (i.e. Masters Degree or PhD candidates to well-established professionals) and all nationalities. Funding is primarily aimed to help support the costs of travel, accommodation, subsistence, and to cover relevant research costs for the researcher during the appointed period.

Ray Johnson on the Forensic Reconstruciton of the "Younger Lady"
Ray Johnson, Director of the Epigraphic Survey, was quoted at length in an online news article discussing the recent forensic facial reconstruction of the remains of woman whose mummy has been known as "Younger Lady." While the online news media have commonly referred to this woman as Nefertiti, Johnson notes the many issues with such an identification.
