Publication of research is a central tenet of the mission of the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures. Of equal importance is the widespread accessibility of ISAC's publications to scholars and interested individuals throughout the world. To that end, on October 27, 2004, ISAC established the Electronic Publications Initiative (EPI), whereby all ISAC publications are published simultaneously both in print and online; online distribution is complimentary.

Terms of Use: The electronic files are to be distributed only from ISAC's website. Individuals, libraries, institutions, and others may download one complimentary copy for their own personal use. ©The University of Chicago. Links to the Institute's website are welcome.

Rights-Access Restrictions: May not be used for commercial purposes.

The response to the EPI has been overwhelming, with positive comments received from all over the world. Complimentary online distribution ensures that ISAC publications are made available to everyone with access to the internet—especially in countries where ISAC carries out research.

The EPI has been completed, and more than 700 Adobe PDF files, each containing an entire book from cover to cover, are being distributed online, in addition to ISAC annual and project reports, issues of the News & Notes member magazine, the Research Archives catalog, and articles by faculty and staff.
