Between 2004 and 2013, salvage excavations conducted by the Istanbul Archaeological museum has uncovered a total of 37 shipwrecks in the Yenikapi quarter of the peninsula of Istanbul, shedding new light on the Byzantine harbor of Theodosius, on the Sea of Marmara. The discovery constitutes the biggest collection of medieval ships found at a single site. Join Professor Ufuk Kocabaş as he discusses the excavation and reconstruction of small Byzantine trade and scouting ships of the Theodosian Harbor.
