The Museum and Suq are closed Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day, and have reduced hours the day before Thanksgiving 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.; Christmas Eve 10:00–3:00pm Museum, 10:00–5:00pm Suq; and New Year's Eve 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
The Museum will be closing at 4:00pm on Friday, December 1st, 2017.
The Mesopotamian Gallery will close at 4:00pm on Thursday, November 9th, 2017, and at 3:00pm on Friday, December 8th, 2017.
We are currently undergoing a Gallery Enhancements Project at the Oriental Institute Museum. As a result, certain exhibitions will be temporarily closed and objects removed from display. The Edgar and Deborah Jannotta Mesopotamian Gallery and Yelda Khorsabad Court will be closed January 2nd to 29th, 2018. Some of the gallery labels and large-print photographs in the Deborah and Robert Aliber Persian Gallery are currently off display. The Megiddo ivories from the Haas and Schwartz Megiddo Gallery will be off display until February 1st, 2018. Please continue to check this page for updates. Admission is Free.
Suggested Donation: $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children under 12.

Photography Policy: Photography, including built-in and/or attached flash, is permitted in the museum galleries without permission. Use of tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, or additional lighting units, however, is not permitted. Any photographs taken in the gallery are for personal use only. They are not to be used in any kind of publication.
Sketching Policy: Visitors and groups may only use pencil and must have a notebook or clipboard to use. Leaning on cases is not permitted.
Items Not Permitted in the Galleries: food or drinks, backpacks, umbrellas, parcels or bags larger than 11”x13”, and e-cigarettes and vaporizers. Also, please refrain from talking on any cellular devices while inside the galleries.
